Goodbye, our legend
No words can console you although you knew this outcome.
Mr Lee Kuan Yew,
In a condolence letter to Mrs Balaji
Dear Mr Lee
It rained heavily today. The sky cried and so did many Singaporeans.
You created a society that is multiracial, meritocratic and incorruptible.
You allowed us to understand each another in English.
You gave everyone, girls or boys, a chance to go to school.
You built our houses and showed us what a true family man is.
You sacrificed your life for a successful Singapore.
The wait to see you was not long, nothing compared to what you did to build this nation.
Sipping on the yogurt drink given by a kind hearted volunteer, I stood in the shade of the trees you planted and felt the breeze running through my hair as I watched the river boats humming along the peaceful Singapore river.
Thank you Mr Lee, this garden city belongs to you. Your legacy will live on in each and everyone of us as we work to build a stronger Singapore.
It breaks my heart to see you go.
Goodbye, our legendary Lee Kuan Yew. Rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Yl
