Summer
Summer is often characterised by the things I've done, the dramas I've watched and the friends I've met.
I think the highlights of this summer were:
1) Birthday
2) Meeting a friend nearly three years after she migrated
3) Harry Potter and all the super Korean dramas
Decided to remove it from my fb this year, believing that those who remember will. No point expecting anything since expectations take a toll on my emotions. Sometimes, (more often nowadays), I daydream and my brain thinks funny thoughts. I think I've lost most of my creative juices since OM days. But anyway, I imagined myself reserving the whole of f21 for that special night. Everyone would get to go home with a piece of clothing and we'll all have fun in the fitting rooms. Yes, taking pictures with the mannequins too. So it was indeed a surprise when I received this at the crowded mrt station. Some reality in fantasy I guess.
A good thing about working near a popular station is being able to meet long lost or close friends. Having not met for three years and to suddenly have the opportunity to meet twice for lunches was something really rare. School mates too! S came back to visit after three years, she speaks with an accent now. There were some awkward silences but I'm glad we all ended up enjoying the meet up.
Meet ups can refresh friendships. But they can also disappoint when things go one-sided and superficial. To prevent the negativity from trumping the positivity, limit meet ups and spend some time alone. Then, it'll be time for movies and dramas.
Quoting a journalist, "Sometimes when you don't know exactly what's going on, you need to keep the parameters of boredom and frustration. Games, like nothing else, give you a break from the feeling that you are either too dumb or too smart for this world."
I think this quote aptly describes the role of dramas too. So thanks harry, dongyi , 49 and ch!
